Joppe Cramwinckel joined the WBCSD in September 2010 to lead the expansion of its Water Programme. The expansion included the establishment of a leadership group of initially 18 WBCSD, currently 29 member companies to support Water Programme activities. Under his leadership a resourced three year work program, focusing on stewardship, value of water, energy, food and water linkages and access to water and sanitation has been developed and is currently being implemented.
Before joining the WBCSD, he was Sustainable Development Lead for Shell International Exploration and Production B.V. He joined Shell in 1985 and served as environmental lead in Brunei and Oman. In 2003 he became the Shell Issue Manager for Water. While at Shell, he was the driving force behind the development of the WBCSD “Business in the World of Water” scenarios. He is member of a number of Advisory Boards/Advisory Councils, among others, the European Water Partnership and the Stockholm World Water Week and is a member of the Supervisory Council of the Water Footprint Network.
